Breakfast with the Birds

The Wildlife Habitat is a fun half day experience for all the family, where you can immerse yourself in the surroundings and interact with the birds and wildlife up close. Highly recommended, Breakfast with the Birds has been a visitor must do for over two decades and provides a highlight to the whole Wildlife Habitat experience. The breakfast is entertainment at its best as you dine amongst a cacophony of sounds and colours of the birds, whilst they fly and roam freely amongst the tables.

Breakfast comprises of a fantastic tropical buffet featuring exotic fruit platters, cereals and freshly baked breads and pastries. For the hungry traveller, there is a full selection of hot foods including freshly cooked bacon, sausages, hashbrowns and eggs plus a variety of fresh juices, ice-water and tea & coffee. It makes for a perfect start to a morning of wandering around the wildlife exhibits and exploring the eco systems of Far North Queensland.

There are three different and unique environments that depict over 180 species of the surrounding Rainforest, Wetlands and Grasslands. These environments are open and interactive for visitors and animals to mingle in a spacious and natural setting. Wander along elevated boardwalks, observing up close a huge range of flora and fauna. Purchase a bag of kangaroo food from the reception where you can then hand feed the kangaroos and wallabies in the Grasslands area. Children of all ages will delight in seeing the wildlife up close, and adults can gain a greater understanding and appreciation for these animals and their habitats, on one of the guided tours and wildlife presentations. Photo times allow you to capture a souvenier photo holding a koala, crocodile or snake!

Open daily from 8:00am until 5:00pm. Guided tours take place at scheduled times throughout the day. Breakfast with the Birds operates from 8:00am until 10:30am. Self drive or hop onboard one of the local Port Douglas Shuttles.

Hartley's Crocodile Adventures

For avid wildlife spotters and nature lovers, Hartley's Crocodile Adventures is the place to be. Set in the foothills of the MacAlister Range, in a World Heritage listed area, Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is home to a range of habitat types including melaleuca wetlands, riverine rainforest and eucalypt woodland. Wildlife on show includes snakes, birds, cassowaries, koalas, quolls and the featured crocodile. Nowhere else is it possible for visitors to obtain such an intimate insight into the biology and behaviour of crocodiles than at Hartleys Crocodile Adventures. Hartley's Lagoon is an immersion exhibit whereby the animals are displayed in surroundings that not only reflect their own habitats but also give viewers the feeling that they are, even for a few moments, a privileged and exclusive witness to a part of their daily lives. Nineteen crocs ranging in size from 2.5m to 5m cruise the waters, laze on the bank or build their nests, interacting with each other just as they would in the wild as well as keeping all the other residents of the lagoon on their toes!

The wildlife amphitheatre is located in the heart of the park and features shows throughout the day including a 'Snake Show' and 'Crocodile Attack Show'. The Cassowary Walk provides an easy, relaxing self-guided walk through the Cassowary Garden where you can view these creatures up close and learn about their relationship with the rainforest. No Australian wildlife park is complete without Koalas. These are Australia’s great wildlife ambassadors and a favourite with visitors worldwide. They spend most of the day fast asleep until 4:30pm when it is feed time. Come and share the excitement when they wake up and are presented with fresh gum leavees. Hartley's is open from 8:30am until 5:00pm daily. You can choose to self drive or pre-book onto a shuttle bus from your accommodation.
