Visit Kuranda Village from Port Douglas is a guided bus tour from Port Douglas. Travel from Port Douglas to Kuranda Village through some of the oldest rainforest on earth. stop at Henry Ross Lookout & Palm Cove on your way back to Port Douglas. Choose between 8am and 11am departures.

Your day at a glance:

Brett will pick you up at either 8.30am or 11am, Travel up the Kuranda Range through some of the oldest rainforest on earth.

Kuranda is known as the Village in the Rainforest and is famous for its colourful arts and crafts markets and cafes. Kuranda is home to some of the best wildlife parks and attractions in North Queensland such as Birdworld & Kuranda Koala Gardens.

You have 3 hours to explore Kuranda Village before you travel back down the scenic Kuranda Range stopping at Henry Ross look out for breath taking views over Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef.

You will then travel to stunning Palm Cove to enjoy a cold drink, coffee and cake or cocktail (at own expense) overlooking the beautiful beach before returning to Port Douglas.

UPGRADE TO INCLUDE KURANDA TRAIN & SKYRAIL:

Experience the famous Kuranda Scenic Rail & Skyrail package with return transfers from Port Douglas. You will be collected from your Port Douglas Accommodation from 8.30am then travel to Freshwater Station to meet the 9.50 Train to Kuranda. After spending 3 hours exploring Kuranda Village you will take the Skyrail gondola back down to Cairns where you will board the bus and return to Port Douglas.

Freshwater station
Situated in the nearby suburb of Freshwater, visitors can enjoy a hearty breakfast in authentic antique railway carriages.  The Station also includes a railway museum, pioneer cottage, gift shop, and can be hired for a unique function venue.  Freshwater Station is the preferred departure point as it has character. 

The Kuranda Scenic Rail Journey
The original Kuranda Scenic Railway is a spectacular journey comprising unsurpassed views of dense rainforest, steep ravines, and picturesque waterfalls. This famous railway winds its way on a journey of approximately 2 hours from Cairns to Kuranda, the village in the rainforest.

Rising from sea level to 328m, the journey to Kuranda passes through World Heritage protected tropical rainforest, past beautiful and spectacular waterfalls and into the awesome Barron Gorge. Upon reaching the village of Kuranda a rich assortment of interesting attractions and unique shopping experiences awaits you.

The journey includes an English commentary, and all passengers receive a commentary companion which includes information on the history of the railways construction, a trip map and a map of Kuranda.

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway
Skyrail Kuranda Terminal is located a short walk from the famous village of Kuranda.
Travel in a 6-person gondola cabin with panoramic views as you glide above the rainforest canopy on the amazing 7.5km journey. Glide just metres above the rainforest canopy before descending through the canopy layers and deep into the heart of the forest at Skyrail's two rainforest mid-stations (Red Peak & Barron Falls) for the ultimate tropical rainforest experience.

Skyrail Stations
Plan to spend 20-30 minutes at the two Rainforest mid-stations.

Barron Falls:  Enjoy spectacular views of the Barron Gorge, state-of-the-art Rainforest Interpretation Centre, lookouts and historical displays.
Red Peak:  Lush rainforest surroundings including the towering 400 year-old Kauri Pine. Interpretive boardwalk tour with Skyrail Ranger available throughout the day.
Skyrail Smithfield Terminal is located just 15 minutes drive from Cairns and 50 minutes from Port Douglas.
